The Waldorf headboard is a collaboration with interior designer, Joanna Plant. It's shape is a tribute to the headboard from Marilyn Monroe's suite at the Waldorf-Astoria in New York, recently sold at the Christies sale.
Why buy an Ensemblier Headboard? Ensemblier was founded on the concept of providing good designs to a retail market. Inspiration was sought from a variety of places, from references in the V&A art library, to picture frames and tombstones. Pivotal to our initial of ‘good design’ of elegant, thoughtful proportions, was to support traditional highly skilled craftsman and use traditional, natural, sustainable materials. All our headboards are custom made to our clients requirements. The frames are solid beech, dwell jointed, made either “wall hung" with a mattress slip or “to the floor” with a cut out to accommodate for skirting. Being of frame construction rather than board with a foam interior as so many of our competitors are, the frames are traditionally webbed with rubberised hair, cotton bumpf and calico. Our entirely bespoke Atelier headboards are loose hair with lambs wool skin wadding. Our headboards are designed and manufactured to last a lifetime and beyond, in that they can be recovered, and will not crumble in 8 years, like the toxic chemicals of foam. All our headboards carry an embossed and numbered Ensemblier brass tag, to ensure authenticity, and are encased in a protective calico travel bag for storage and transportation. For 100 cm singles, 120 cm small doubles, European 1600 Kings, and finishing details please contact us.
Design Right? We support designers that make outstanding designers, and work with them in royalty schemes to acknowledge their designs. As we understand the research and study taken to production unusual and striking designs. Therefore we are proud to work in collaboration with Kitesgrove, Rita Konig & Joanna Plant in producing their concepts.
We understand that our products - particularly our headboards are considered investment pieces. We use only natural, sustainably sourced materials.MDF disintegrates within 3 years, whereas our beech frames are intended to last 300 years or more, like the pieces they are inspired by.
Our headboards have a life time upholstery guarantee. Our sofas and dining chairs have been made to last a minimum of 20 - 30 years before any reupholstery of webbing is necessary. This is due to the process of layering natural materials, by contrast, foam has a lifetime of 8 years before it disintegrates into harmful, toxic petrochemicals.
Our products are considered heritage pieces and will last a lifetime and beyond. Therefore, we offer a recovering service of our headboards for £350.00 inc vat.
